The new System76 Serval WS Linux laptop is a mobile workstation is a new device from the brand integrated with high-performing processor, improved graphics and every latest feature that you’d possibly need for some of the creative and technical work including graphic design, video editing, complex coding and a few others.
Much like every other System76 device, this device runs on its own Pop!_OS Linux distribution or Ubuntu. So, in case you are looking for a device with Windows OS, this isn’t the one.
While the Serval WS is not a new series, this new variant is powered by the AMD Ryzen chips rather than the Intel processors.
This new device is equipped with a 15.6” FHD display with matte finished and with a screen resolution of 1080p and 120 Hz refresh rate.
The base model of the 2020 variant is also powered with up to 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 3900 processors with 12 cores and 24 threads. As for the graphics processor, this latest model is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU.
The device is also programmed with up to 4TB NVMe SSD for storage and up to 64 GB RAM for memory options. The combination of the two makes up for a beast of a device unlike anything else that you will come across now.
The 2020 variant of the Serval WS from System76 has been programmed with the effortless performance of the workstation but with the portability of a laptop. The powerful 12-core design of the device allows you to create 3D models, simulate transitions and even test your predictions at some of the breakneck speeds.
The permanent components allow this lightweight operating system to run at a warp speed. Make sure that you keep an eye out on the workflow operating smoothly with some of the notable features including Auto-tiling and keyboard navigation.

The 62Wh battery is a mobile PC but given how high end the configurations are, it is likely that the battery life wouldn’t last a lot but a favorable amount.
The design and build of the device are also reliable and not something you’d have to worry about. The device comes with a base weight of 5.95lbs, which is not the worst and quite lightweight and portable.
The device supports up to three external displays thanks to HDMI, Mini DisplayPort 1.2, and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, and two full sized USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a USB 2.0 port and SD card reader.
