While Apple is known for their premium quality devices and laptops, the New Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 was a much awaited upgrade that every tech geek has been on the lookout for. With the latest Intel processors and improved RAM speeds, whether or not this device is worth the upgrade is a question that several people have been consistently asking about.
If you do want better performance and an even better user experience, it is likely that you wouldn’t mind paying extra for this at all. The device does come with some amazing improvement in the specs but with a standard price point, which is quite amazing as well.
If you have been meaning to buy this device, hold up and read the review first.
Design and build
When it comes to the overall design and build of the device, Apple never compromises. The design in the new MacBook Pro 13-inch is not that different and has maintained more or less the same design and exterior look like before.
The silver or the space gray color does stand out and looks stunning with a very premium look and finish to it that you just can’t find with anything else around. The device 11.97 x 8.36 x 0.61-inches in dimensions, which is slightly thicker than the previous models.
The device weighs around 3.1 pounds, which is not bad at all but even that is a tad bit heavier than the previous versions, without any questions. For a professional laptop though, the size and the weight is pretty standard and something that most people would be comfortable carrying around.
The device also packs in some of the latest ports, so you wouldn’t have to worry about the connectivity. The one change in the design that this new MacBook has is in terms of the keyboard. Switching from the Butterfly switch keyboard, this new one sports the much hyped Magic keyboard which is very comfortable instead.
The Touch Bar, which is the thin display above the keyboard is also present in the new one too. While not many people are a fan of this, you will gradually get used to it.
The power button and the Touch ID button are quite the same, ensuring the maximum security while using it. This provides you with a reliable way of logging into your MacBook.
Coming round to the display of the new MacBook Pro 13, the changes are not that noticeable. It comes with the same 13” retina display for a smoother and very crisp visual experience unlike anything else that you come across. The device is also credible for providing with some crisp and bright visuals, which again is pretty amazing, hands down.
The one downside is the 4K resolution in the 13” display. It doesn’t do justice at all and does seem like an unnecessary factor. As for the screen resolution, it has 2560×1600 pixels, which is a lot better than some of the other competitors in the market.
As for the screen to body ratio, the bezels on the side are quite thicker than some of the previous variants or even the available competitors in the market. This makes the device look a bit outdated, so narrower bezels would have made everything look a lot better instead.
Coming round to the next topic of discussion, which is the performance of the device.
If you have used Apple products or MacBook before, you’d know that the brand is known for its efficient performance and productivity. The same is no different with this one too.
The device has gone through some of the most important benchmark tests and has lived up to all the expectations that one would normally have from the device.
The device runs on the macOS Catalina which provides with a very smooth and responsive user experience. The applications don’t take time to open and it even allows you to multitask without any hassle at all, which again is pretty amazing.
The device comes with up to 10th‑generation Intel Core i7 configurable processor for smooth and effortless usage beyond your imaginations. There are a few other options too that you can check out if need be. Pair that with the 16GB DDR4 SDRAM and you have yourself a winner that you just can’t beat in terms of the effortless performance and the user experience.
The device is also configurable up to 32GB SDRAM, which further adds to the effortless performance even further.
Aside from the processors and such, the device also does run on the Intel Iris Plus Graphics so you never have to compromise on the quality of the graphics that you witness on the display. The entry level variant does have the older version of the GPU, so choose accordingly.
After talking about the performance, it goes without saying that we need to highlight the battery life of the device. Traditionally, MacBooks are known for their high quality and long lasting battery life and the same is no different with this new Macbook Pro 13 as well. the 58 watt-hour battery is a worthy pick and lasts for 10 hours on medium usage.
Even with heavy duty usage, the device lasts for 8-9 hours at a stretch, which again is nothing short of amazing. For a workstation laptop, this is nothing short of impressive, if you come to ask. In case you don’t use it very extensively, the device can even last you through the day, which is crazy.

The one thing about its battery life is the fact that it holds it well. What this means is the fact that you can leave the lid closed for a few days and when you open it again, it will still have some battery left, which is crazy and not something you readily come across in any of the other devices in the same price range.
If you want a smaller, portable and more compact MacBook with some of the upgraded features and the Magic keyboard, this new option is a must buy. But, in case you don’t have a lot of money to spare, this might not be the best pick at all.
The base model of the new MacBook Pro 13 starts at $1,299.00, which is the same like the previous year’s version too. The device is available for purchase on the official online and offline stores of Apple and even on Amazon.
