Microsoft’s first 5G powered surface phone has been listed and spotted on FCC, under the name of 1995 Portable Handset from Microsoft.
While we are in the haze and high celebrating the first look into Apple’s new iPhone 13, Microsoft has a device in progress, presumably with their upcoming 5G smartphone.
The device was listed under Microsoft Corporations in Washington, United States with a Confidentiality Request letter from Microsoft to keep the external photos, test setup photos, user’s manual and internal photos all securely hidden and away from the public eye till 02.01.22. Assuming that date, we can pretty much assume that’s around the time the device will be launched.
Reports from FCC ID suggests a possible release on March 16, 2022. So, we still have a few months of waiting to do.
Although the device has undergone a myriad of tests to get its unique identification code, including SAR testing, software and firmware testing, to name a few. You can all the reports about the testing and evaluation of the tests here.
