Mediatek is all set to compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips with their latest launch, the Dimensity 9000.
MediaTek has finally risen above their predecessors, coming out with the latest Dimensity 9000, offering the users with their faster ever SoC yet. This the company’s most powerful chipset developed and is all set to compete against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset.
The brand is all set to tear down boundaries and bring convenience for their users, even competing against Samsung at this point.
The previous Dimensity chips, including the Dimensity 1000 were a lot less powerful compared to their competitors, Snapdragon 888 and Samsung’s Exynos. However, the brand seems to have risen above the setbacks and the Dimensity 9000 is the testament to that. This is expected to be launched for the 2022 Android flagships.
The Dimensity 9000 is the very first chipset built and developed on the TSMC 4nm process along with Arm’s v9 architecture. The chip is also further integrated with the single Cortex-X2 performance core with clock speed at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.85GHz, and the four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
The GPU in the chip features the 10-core Arm Mali-G710 with the 5th Gen. APU from MediaTek. It is also integrated with AI processing for enhanced power efficiency and responsiveness.
The bestselling feature of this chipset, 18-bit Imagiq Gen 7 ISP, is that it supports up to 320-megapixel image capture if the phone comes with the suitable sensor support. This is a breakthrough and will transform the way creators and videographers use such devices.
The Dimensity 9000 is also integrated with a 5G modem with the backup support from 3GPP’s Release 16 specification. Also, this chipset integrated Android device also claims to be the first smartphone that will come with the Bluetooth 5.3 technology with Wi-Fi 6E support.
However, despite expected to be a front-runner with the Dimensity 9000, Mediatek is still up for a competition against Qualcomm with their upcoming successor to the Snapdragon 888 chipset. The same is going to be announced soon at the Snapdragon Tech Summit on November 30, 2021.
Despite the new launches, MediaTek is still going to stand out with their amazing progress after lagging behind in the market with their subpar chipsets. Pushing aside the previous launches, the Dimensity 9000 is indicative that MediaTek is coming on to be a frontrunner instead of being in the backseat.
We just have to wait and see which Android smartphone brands collaborate to launch this upcoming chipset to the market.
