The laptop doesn’t get heated up much even with high workload. In occasional cases of extreme pressure, the fan turns on. The fan isn’t silent but isn’t loud either. The Fan vent openings face to the rear of the computer instead of facing down. This allows the air to escape and laptop to stay cool even when it is being used on your lap.

Features
Despite being so lightweight, this laptop is full of features.
This first feature that will draw your attention is backlit keyboard. This backlit comes handy if you are working in low light. You can even adjust the backlight brightness according to your preference. The keypad is very comfortable to use and doesn’t require your hand to travel much to reach any key. It also has reader mode, which reduces the blue light and protects your eyes.

Windows 10(64 bit) is the default operating system – great for multitasking. A plethora of free apps is also available on Microsoft store, in case you require one.
This laptop has a pair of USB 3.0 ports which can transfer data at the rate of 5GBps. With that said, it’s not the best data transfer tech available. You can’t expect tech like Thunderbolt 3 with this laptop. An HDMI port is also there for connecting the laptop with external HD display.
It has also built-in DTS headphone X. This offers you an immersive audio experience of full, 11.1 channel surround movie theater, without any elaborate speaker system.

LG gram 13Z980-U.AAW5U1 is a sturdy, lightweight laptop for carrying around. It’s 13.3 inch display and carbon magnesium body give it a smart, trendy and premium look. You can work on it anywhere, even on transports, without worrying about the battery. It’s full HD IPS display offers crystal clear view. Performance wise also it is quite impressive. With 8GB DDR4 RAM and 8th generation i5 Intel processor, you can expect no lagging and high performance.
Its HD webcam is perfect for video calling and better than competitors’. Adjustable backlight and reader mode features come very handy if you have to work in low light. DTS Headphone X offers a rich immersive audio experience. It’s doesn’t generate much heat even when the workload is high. And heat ventilation outlet allows heated air to escape without any obstruction.
But there are few scopes of improvement. As mentioned earlier, this laptop doesn’t support latest data transfer like Thunderbird 3. USB 3.0 is good but not the best. Unlike other laptops of this series, 13.3 inch LG Z980 doesn’t have touchscreen or fingerprint reader. Hard disk drive capacity is also quite limited, 256 GB is a bit too low in my opinion. This is not suitable for gaming either – latest games like Witcher 3 may feel little lagging.
