Apple usually releases new versions of their iOS and iPadOS software alongside watchOS and tvOS, together, right after their iPhone launch event in September. However, this year they’re taking a bit of a detour as the iPadOS 16 update is going to be delayed until October, while the company focuses on iOS 16 at this moment.

iPadOS 16 Update Delayed – Performance and Compatibility Improvements Undergoing

A report from Mark Gurman recently surfaced on “Bloomberg” claiming that the California giant is going to delay the release of its iPadOS 16 software by one month.

The reason, at least partially, seems to be improving the multitasking capabilities to better accommodate the newly announced iPadOS 16 features like Stage Manager. The feature specifically had some weird performance and compatibility issues that kinda goes against the whole flawless multitasking mantra it is supposed to serve.

iPadOS 16 Update

When it comes to multitasking, iPads have never been anywhere close to Macbooks, as far as usability is concerned. That part is intentional by Apple as they’re trying hard to keep the two products separate. However, the company has finally realized that users want the flexibility to use multiple apps at the same time on their expensive iPads. That’s where the new iPadOS 16 update is trying to make a difference.

However, the initial Developer and Public Beta versions have seen a few difficulties here and there which could be a result of the massive feature overhaul in iPadOS 16. It seems like the company wasn’t able to fix the problems in time, hence the delay. There are a bunch of other features that’ll be available with the new iPadOS update alongside, finally, a Weather app for iPad.

Is iPad Pro M2 Coming In October?

It is also possible that Apple has a bigger plan to release the new software alongside the new M2-powered iPad Pro models in October. Because Apple already released the M2 Macbook Air and M2 Macbook Pro months before the October (Mac) event this year, they can announce the new M2 iPad Pro models at the same event this year. In that case, iPad OS 16 may roll out on that same day. Apple is also expected to announce the Apple Silicon based Mac Pro during the October event.
