Gamers are always on the lookout for new games and with the nearing launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it wasn’t surprising that the game experienced an influx of gamer reeling in to download the game to experience the enigmatic graphics and epic game-play.
With the pre-downloading feature, gamers have started downloading the game to their devices. But, for the Steam users, they have been experiencing a glitch wherein the download consistently froze at 57.4GB and the users weren’t able to download it any further.
The problem has been happening consistently for all the users trying to download the game, so it wasn’t just a glitch or lagging internet connection. The pre-load function for Cyberpunk 2077 was made available on December 09, 2020. This feature allows the users to download the game files onto their desktop and then play the game once its launched.
Given how convenient this method was, it wasn’t surprising that most of the advanced level gamers opted for this. The game launched on December 10, 2020 but even with the preloads, the gamers have been experiencing issue with the download where the Steam download is stuck at 57.4GB.
The problem was so evident and prominent for all the gamers that “57.4GB” started trending on Twitter among the gaming community. For a game that has been in the making for the past 8 years, it is not surprising that several gamers are extremely disappointed with the glitches and the delay that the game is posing.
While it is not surprising the Steam downloads have been freezing, it is something that the developers should have foreseen and prepared the same accordingly. Just after the announcement of the launch of the game, it managed to top the Steam digital chart sales. But, additionally, it is not surprising at all that the developers and even Steam was unprepared for the preloading function.
Cyberpunk 2077 Now Available on Amazon
Even with the issue that the users have been facing, there haven’t been any significant changes to the problem. The users are expecting this issue to resolve itself on its own. The Cyberpunk 2077 Day One patch is another factor that the gamer have been looking forward to. So, it is hopefully that the users won’t face the same issues with downloading that file.
But, with the prevailing download issue, a contributor on Forbes clarified his experience with the download process saying that even after the glitch, the download did pick up again. Once the download is complete, you can instantly launch the game and play it to your heart’s content.
The game is pretty thrilling as you start getting into the game. But, the promise of providing a customizable main character is not met in this one. So, you can unravel the game as you play it.
A few minutes into the trend, Steam decide to probe into the matter and then came up with their clarification for the matter.
Steam replied to the trend with a quoted tweet saying that it is likely because of a Display issue where the download page showed 0 download while its unraveling the encrypted data from the preloading function.

They further provided the users with a clarification suggesting them to check the Disk Activity on the downloads section on the Steam dashboard. Once the unpacking of the data is complete, the download process then resumes again to download the remaining of the game. So, if you have been switching the data centers or restarting Steam client, you don’t have to do that.
For those who are completely blank about the Cyberpunk 2077, it is a recently launched video game with a storydriven plot action-adventure game that is set in Night City. The pivotal character in the game is V, a mercenary outlaw and that is who you play the game as.
The game, apart from the stunning graphics, enables the users to customize the cyberware of the character along with their playstyle and their existing skillset. As you get more into the city, you unravel things that make the storyline of the game even more enticing.
