The Chinese display giant BOE has been making some big headlines lately and introducing world-first innovations seems to be a trend for the company. After announcing the world’s first 55-inch 8k AMQLED display earlier this year, the company has now announced the world’s first 600Hz laptop display alongside several other innovative display products.

The BOE 600Hz Laptop Display

The World’s First 600Hz Laptop Display Comes From BOE

In the past, we have seen super fast gaming laptop displays going anywhere from 165Hz to 360Hz, and the recent Alienware X17 R2 even came with a crazy 480Hz display. BOE is taking this another step further with a 600Hz display. It is a 16-inch LCD panel with Oxide Backplane Technology. There is no confirmation on the resolution yet, but if I had to guess, I’ll go with Full HD at 16:10, but it can be QHD as well.

While the competition is still playing catch up with 480Hz, BOE’s 600Hz display marks a new benchmark for gaming laptops and I hope laptop OEMs start using it soon. However, with the current state of gaming hardware, it’s more likely that you won’t actually be able to play the majority of games at 600 FPS just yet. But, we’ll have to test that once there is an actual consumer product with a 600Hz display.

A 17.3-inch Foldable Display, a 34-inch Mini-LED Gaming Display, and More Have Been Showcased As Well

Alongside the superfast 16-inch laptop display, the company also showcased some other bleeding-edge display tech including a 17.3-inch Foldable Display and a 34-inch Mini-LED display for Gaming Monitors. These too have next-level capabilities and if priced well, can make these new technologies accessible to more users.

The 17.3″ Foldable OLED Display resembles the ones we’ve seen from the latest foldable computer devices made by ASUS & Lenovo and the company claims that it covers up to 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. BOE also showcased a 360-degree two-way folding display which is probably geared toward tablets instead.

On the other hand, the 34″ gaming display is using Mini-LED backlighting for close to OLED-like contrast (100000:1), but the brightness can go much higher as it is HDR1000 certified. That means the brightness is 1000 nits or more for HDR content which is a massive win for gamers. It also seems to be using a wide 21:9 aspect ratio for a more cinematic experience.

Considering the fact that even Apple has considered BOEs display technology for their products, it’s no secret that the company has been doing impressive work in recent years. With the new gaming laptop hardware, the Mini-LED gaming display technology, and the Folding Display technology, that the company now has under its product line-up, it should be able to attract major market players and found end up giving tough competition to Samsung.
