Alienware debuted their original Cherry MX mechanical keyboard in their M15 and M17 gaming laptops, taking the overall experience to another new level.
Alienware, in recent news, debuted their first batch of gaming laptops featuring the Cherry MX ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard, forever changing the whole typing experience of the users. This new optional keyboard will be integrated in the M15 and M17 gaming laptops from the brand.
This new collaboration involved two gaming and tech experts who brainstormed and experimented things over the course of three years to finally bring the Cherry MX keyboards. These experimentation further led to the introduction of mechanical and material changes across 160 prototypes.
The new Cherry MX keyboards draw their inspiration from the iconic DeLorean car. The primary objective of the collaborators was to come forwards and create a keyboard that provide the gamers with an immersive user experience, thanks to the 3.5mm ultra-low profile.
The new keyboard features a 1.8mm travel with a self-cleaning mechanism that has been specifically stress tested for up to 15 million keystrokes per day. It further features cross-point contact system and a two-piece keycap structure, both of which ensure precise typing experience with wobble-free keystrokes.
After playing around and experimenting with all the 160 prototypes of this mechanical keyboard, the designers incorporated this keyboard with stunning and durable stainless-steel components for the ultimate experience. Alienware’s primary objective with this keyboard was to develop something that works as an extension for the gamer’s senses for a flawless typing experience.
The keyboard further integrates a spring mechanism with two-piece keycap for stable keystrokes. Also, the keyboard comes with the full N-key rollover with anti-ghosting functions and the familiar sounds created by the mechanical keyboards.
Aside from the robust construction of the keyboard, both Cherry and Alienware engineers have ensured to include the per-key customizable AlienFX RGB lighting.
Alienware further reported that they are going to debut the Cherry MX Keyboard in the M15 and M17 gaming laptops. The one in the M15 laptop is going to be available for an additional price of $150 and for $180 in the M17 device.
The current reports suggest that the Cherry MX-infused Alienware m15 R4 and m17 R4 laptops will be available for a price point of $1,799 and $1,899, respectively. Further updates about the availability will likely be released pretty soon.
