- Alienware x14 Gaming Laptop ($600 OFF)
- Alienware m15 R7 Gaming Laptop ($470 OFF)
- Alienware m17 R5 Gaming Laptop ($300 OFF)
The Alienware gaming laptop lineup from Dell has two different series of devices to choose from.
The flagship x-series is the premium option that comes with all the modern goodness the company currently offers, The m-series is value-oriented and while it cuts some corners to reach a lower price, it often offers better hardware for less money.
I’ve recommended laptops from both series of Alienware devices for Black Friday 2022.
Alienware x17 R2
For gamers looking to get the biggest display possible with the most powerful hardware available out there, the Alienware x17 R2 is an excellent choice. While you can get crazy with the configurations, the 4K 120Hz variant is now available with a massive discount and the specifications on that one make a lot of sense for flagship gaming.

- CPU: Intel Core i9-12900HK (14-core, 45W)
- GPU: GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
- RAM: 32 GB DDR5
- Storage: 2TB SSD
- Webcam: 720P, IR
- Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 6E
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.2
- Battery: 87 Wh
- Weight: 6.69 lbs
Dell Alienware x17 R2 – The Good and The Bad
First of all, the 17.3-inch display comes at up to 480Hz at 1080P, but the 120Hz option lets you have 4K which is great because the RTX 3080 Ti can handle that kind of resolution. Combine that with the i9-12900K, 32GB RAM, and 2TB of super-fast SSD storage, and this is one of the most high-end gaming laptops in the market to consider.
You won’t be taking this around much though, ’cause at 6.7 lbs, this thing’s gonna break your back, if you do. This variant is receiving a massive price cut, but it’s still not going to be cheap by any means. If you want a different configuration, by all means, choose that one.
The Dell Alienware x17 R2 is up to $700 Off on Black Friday.
Alienware x15 R2
If you want to spend less and still get a great gaming experience and a big enough display, I’ll recommend the x15 R2 instead. You can get the i7 variant with the RTX 3060 (6GB) and the 1080P 165 Hz panel and get a really good gaming experience for a reasonable price and with Black Friday discounts, this deal is even sweeter.
Highlighting Specifications
- Display: 15.6-inch, 1920×1080 (16:9) IPS, 165 Hz, 3ms
- CPU: Intel Core i7-12700H (14-core, 45W)
- GPU: GeForce RTX 3060
- RAM: 16GB LPDDR5
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Webcam: 720P, IR
- Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 6E
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.2
- Battery: 87 Wh
- Weight: 5.18 lbs
Dell Alienware x15 R2 – The Good and The Bad
The combination of a fast 165Hz 3ms display and the RTX 3060 makes the x15 a great choice for competitive shooters and AAA titles. The RTX 3060 is going to be enough for most of you out there and the i7-12700H pairs perfectly with the same. The 16GB LPDDR5 RAM is enough too, but if you want more storage, upgrade to 1TB storage.
It has the same 87Wh battery, but with the power-hungry hardware, you won’t use this one unplugged for long, even when you’re not gaming. This is common with all gaming laptops. so I can’t really complain.
Alienware x14 R1
Want to go smaller and save even more money? Then go for the Dell Alienware x14 R1 instead. It’s a 14-inch gaming laptop with very similar hardware to the X15 R2, a lower price, and a huge Black Friday discount. So, this is the one with the best value in the x-series of devices.
Highlighting Specifications
- Display: 14-inch, 1920×1080 (16:9) IPS, 144Hz, 3ms
- CPU: Intel Core i7-12700H (14-core, 45W)
- GPU: GeForce RTX 3060
- RAM: 32 GB LPDDR5
- Storage: 1TB SSD
- Webcam: 720P, IR
- Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 6E
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.2
- Battery: 80 Wh
- Weight: 4.06 lbs
Dell Alienware x14 R1 – The Good and The Bad
The company’s approach to the x14 is similar to its larger siblings but there are a few differences here and there and they also managed to package a lot in a 14-inch laptop chassis. First of all, you only get a 1080P 144Hz panel option for this one and with the i7-12700H and the GeForce 3060, this makes a lot of sense. The gaming performance should be close to the x15 and you’re getting double the RAM and Storage.
This one also is slightly lighter, so if you want to carry around your gaming laptop, this is your best option. The battery life isn’t gonna be anything to write home about, but again, that’s expected.

Alienware m15 R7
If you need a 15-inch laptop and you don’t want the luxury and added price that comes with the x15 R2, go for the m15 R7 instead. You cut very small corners here and there, but you get way better value for your money and arguably better internals at that reduced price. With the sweet discounts on Black Friday, the m15 will make much more sense compared to the x15, to a lot of you.
Highlighting Specifications
- Display: 15.6-inch, 1920×1080 (16:9), 360 Hz, 1ms
- CPU: Intel Core i9-12900H (14-core, 45W)
- GPU: RTX 3070 Ti
- RAM: 16GB
- Storage: 1TB SSD
- Webcam: 720P, IR
- Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 6
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.2
- Battery: 86 Wh
- Weight: 5.93 lbs
Dell Alienware m15 – The Good and The Bad
First of all, you can get a faster 1080P 360 Hz display with a 1ms response time, for a lot less money, so that’s already impressive. However, the fact that you’re also getting the RTX 3070 Ti and i9-12900H alongside that, makes this variant I’m recommending, a lot more interesting. You should be able to play every game you want, without issues, and the performance of the 3070 Ti will fly close to the RTX 3080.
You are getting the slightly older Wi-Fi 6 instead of Wi-Fi 6E, so that’s one compromise that may or may not matter depending on Wi-Fi settings. Also, the visuals won’t look as compelling as the x15 in some cases, so keep that in mind as well. Other than that, this one’s the better value for the majority of you out there.

Alienware m17 R5
If you want the biggest screen size possible, but don’t want to spend x17 money, and also for someone eyeing an all-AMD setup, I’ll recommend the m17 R5 (AMD variant). You get a lot of the same things available in the premium x-series and cut a few corners here and there to get the laptop at a much lower price point.
Highlighting Specifications
- Display: 17.3-inch, 3840×2160 (16:9), 120 Hz, 3ms
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 6800H (8-core, 45W)
- GPU: Radeon RX 6700M
- RAM: 16GB
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Webcam: 720P, IR
- Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 6
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.2
- Battery: 97 Wh
- Weight: 7.3 lbs
Dell Alienware m17 – The Good and The Bad
Having the Ryzen 7 6800H CPU and Radeon RX 6700M means that the gaming performance should be closer to the m15 instead of the x17 which comes with the RTX 3080 Ti. That’s still good enough for a 4K 120 Hz display and if you want to play games in 4K, this is one of the most affordable options in the market right now.
I have recommended the 512GB SSD variant here, but if that’s not enough for you, upgrade to 1TB. Again, you don’t get Wi-Fi 6E in this one either, but regular Wi-Fi 6 instead, so take that into consideration if you have a Wi-Fi 6E setup and want to use the 6GHz band on your laptop.
