One of the most popular PC brands of 1990s was Gateway, the one with the cow-spotted logo. While the company and branding was discontinued soon after, Acer has now bought it back and is ready to start selling some budget-friendly AMD-powered laptops exclusively at Walmart.
Since the devices are going to be available exclusively at Walmart, the main attraction of these devices is the pricing. The new launch consists of the Gateway Ultra thin series.
The launch includes an 11.6” device with AMD A4 and ranges till a 15.6” device with Core i5 processors. Another variant includes a 2-in-1 11.6 inches device with touchscreen. It is powered by the Intel Celeron processor.
The latter features 16GB RAM as well for smoother functions. These devices are backed by 10 hours of battery life, which again is an enough reason why you can buy this without any hesitation.
The connectivity options in these devices are on point too. The 15.6” variant includes the latest USB Type-C, USB 3.0, Micro SD slot and a lot more around. This enables easier accessibility and connectivity options without any hassle at all. The device also weighs around 4.1 lbs, which is pretty lightweight in comparison to majority of the other devices available in the market with similar specifications.
The 11.6 variant, on the other hand, features the Windows 10 S operating system and is Google classroom compatible. It weights 2.3lbs, which is even lighter than the other variant. The battery life of 4 hours is not the best but gets the job done.
The 11.6-inch variant is available for $179 while the 15.6-inch variant is available at Walmart for $499.
Aside from these, the best thing about these devices is the fact that they are available in a plethora of colors that you can choose from. It includes some vibrant shades like purple, blue and green and some classic shades like rose gold and black.
Apart from the above-mentioned series, the new launch will also include the Gateway Creator series that includes two 15.6” devices meant for media editing and gaming. Unlike the previous ones, these two are available only in black.
Majority of the devices under the Gateway series consists of IPS-type display for crisp and clear visuals with a screen resolution of 1080p. In case you don’t want to compromise on the visuals, these display features take care of your needs.
Among the two variants, one features Ryzen 5 4600H along with an Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU and the second model features a Core i5 and an RTX 2060 GPU. That is not where it stops though. Even with such amazing specs, the devices are priced under $1000. The former one costs $799 while the latter costs $999, which is a pretty good deal.
For some creator-focused devices, they do have a fairly less price point. The devices do support 256GB SSD for storage, which again is a pretty good feature.
Aside from the laptops, the new range also features two stunning Android tablets for easy work that you can do on the go. Both the tablets feature the A50 processor and come in a few different color options.
All the devices are now available for purchase via Walmart. You can either order the devices online or pick it up from the store near you.
